We are all Canucks. Off to a non-defeated second round of the '09 playoff season the team has never been sharper. They defeated the St.Louis Blues in the first round with ease. Robbing them of all hope to advance. This round has started off no different, with the return of Sami Salo who lit up the board in last nights game against the Chicago Blackhawks. This series is off to a great start. But, the Canucks are no rookies to starting off strong and crumbling when it matters. Why is this year different? Many people who to support this team would point towards the God-like goaltender Roberto Luongo who has only given away seven goals in this playoff season, "he was here, he was there, he was everywhere and when he's playing as well as he is right now, arguably the best he's performed in his nine-year career, it's a wonder anything eludes him" stated nhl.com. Luckily this demi-god has a stacked blue line that can help him out if by off chance he should fumble Kevin Bieksa, Sami Salo, Shane O'Brien, Mattias Ohlund and Willie Mitchell are the soldiers that protect their king when intruders approach. Not to mention the offense that attacks and conquers. Old wives tales claim that twins have special powers and the Sedins do nothing but solidify that. It is both entertaining and amazing to watch how they communicate ont the ice, ending the regular season with 82 points each. Now although this team does not have the best track record for the playoff season and have never won a Stanley Cup, who's to say that this isn't the year? They are an under-appreciated team which will hopefully recruit more to an international with their defeats this playoff season. Their playoff drought has clearly begun to end. This could be the year.
